Creating Your Own Wedding Planning Checklist

Is your wedding day rapidly approaching? Have you taken care of all the details that go into making this glorious day the best it can possibly be? Getting married is exciting, but planning for your wedding takes a lot of work. To help you with this process, here we have created a brief wedding checklist which you can refer to make sure all the details of your wedding have been ironed out beforehand.

Wedding planning should begin between 9-16 months before the special day. It is at this time that you should decide upon the size of the wedding and who will be invited, develop a realistic budget for your wedding that you can stick to, book all of the venues (church, reception hall) and pay the deposits, select bridesmaids and groomsmen, and throw yourself an engagement party!

At about the 6-month mark prior to your wedding there are several things yet to do, some more important than others. You need to plan the menu for the reception, shop for wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses, select and order the cake, hire or decide upon all the hired help including caterers, photographer, videographer, florist and entertainment, register at a number of retail locations, and finalize the guest list and order invitations.

At about 2-3 months before the scheduled day of the wedding, you can rest easy knowing that most of the major functions have been arranged and paid for, but there are still quite a few details that need to be attended to, including send the invitations to the invited guests, order the wedding cake, order favors and other gifts, submit a newspaper wedding announcement, select and purchase the wedding rings, and enjoy a shower or bachelorette party.

Planning for a wedding is going to come with a certain amount of stress, there’s really no way to avoid it, but a wedding checklist-one which outlines all the details of your wedding and when these details need to be accomplished-can help lessen the amount of stress you feel significantly. A wedding checklist gives you a blueprint that you can refer to often, and will give you a sense of accomplishment as you check each new item off the list.
