Acne is a skin condition that occurs when the sebaceous glands secrete an oily substance called sebum in larger quantities than necessary and block the pores of the skin. This happens due to the stimulation of sex hormones, and particularly due to the effect of androgen. The sebum is trapped within the skin resulting in pimples that appear on the face, neck, back and chest.
