Fashion Advice That Anyone Can Afford

The 1960s will always be remembered as an era of change. If one word defines the era, it is “liberation.” Many of the major social movements that have shaped our world today began in the sixties. If you want fearless fashion advice, look to the sixties!

Sexual revolution and women’s revolution were just two of the revolutions taking place in the 60s. These revolutionary movements spilled over into the fashion industry. If you need proof of this, just look at the mini skirt.

Mini skirt, mini-skirt or miniskirt – spell it as you like it is the same thing: short, sassy and sexy. The mini skirt made its debut in 1964 when a French fashion house made the bold move of moving the hemline of skirts up above the knee.

The style didn’t catch on, however, until a British designer took the idea and pushed the hemline up even further. At that time, in 1966, the mini skirt was called the Chelsea style.

After that, the miniskirt took the world by storm. This bold new look, combined with the fact that the invention of pantyhose liberated women from girdles, was embraced by youthful women with unprecedented passion. In the blink of an eye, they were being seen everywhere in all the major fashion capitals of the world.

Since the sixties, mini-skirts have waxed and waned in popularity, but have never really gone out of style. They are made from every conceivable fabric and worn for every occasion. The casual denim version is perhaps the most popular, but it’s not unheard of for a girl to choose to wear a tight see-through lycra mini or a sexy schoolgirl mini.

If you’re looking for fearless fashion advice, take it from the sixties. The sixties told us to do our own thing and “if it feels good, do it.” Don’t listen to anybody else, girls – do what you want!
