With its first perfume released in 1992, Donna Karan New York has created one of the most alluring fragrances in the market today – DKNY Perfumes. From the Donna Karan beginnings, the brand has created a global market that will cater to the elite who never settles for anything less but the best. This has caught the eye of the luxury good conglomerate, LVMH and adopted the House of DKNY as its own.
In 1992, Donna Karan is the first fragrance presented by the House in cooperation with IFF. Fresh fruity notes like apricot, bergamot, neroli, green notes, osmanthus, pineapple and peach. The heart has carnation, heliotrope, cassia, jasmine, lily, orchid, rose and ylang-ylang. Base notes have amber, benzoin, citruses, tonka bean, vanilla, cedar, vetiver, vanilla, musk, suede, sandalwood, patchouli and incense. This was created initially to celebrate the delicate women strength that Donna Karan has wanted to exude, just as how Ghost perfumes have.
1994 brought us Cashmere mist that has real cashmere as its base. It opens with bergamot on top, together with Morrocan jasmine, lily and suede at the heart and caps off with an amber, sandalwood, musk and of course cashmere as the base. Very sensual and warm, Cashmere mist is another must have from the DKNY perfumes.
One of these is the Delicious Candy Apples Juicy Berry which has fresh currant, blackberry, and juicy pear on top. At the heart of it are rose and apple blossoms and dries down to a creamy sandalwood and blond wood. This variant comes in a purple bottle and is a feast for your eyes as well.
DKNY Be Delicious Message of Hope is added on to the Be Delicious collection in 2005. This DKNY perfume has American apple, magnolia, grapefruit, cucumber, tuberose, lily, rose, violet sandalwood, white amber and white woods. It comes in a silver, almost platinum bottle in 100mL EDP.
This year, you may also want to check out the DKNY Women Summer 2010. It celebrates the artistic side of New York and makes this evident in the flighty and joyous mixture of notes. This DKNY perfume opens with magnolia leaves, pink guava, mandarin, mango buds, nectar and freesia. At the heart is lily, frangipani, orange blossoms and jasmine on a sandalwood, cedar and blond wood base. Getting this is a must as is only comes in a limited time. You may also want to look out for Iris by Donna Karan this 2010 which comes in a deep purple flacon – one that represents its deep and mysterious composition of Iris, violet, and ambrette seeds. It focuses on the strength of women’s character and emotions. Truly, it is one representation of the many DKNY perfume characters.
