Acne scars are the byproduct of acne that leaves skin blemishes. Since it makes the skin look unsmooth and uneven, most people would like to get rid of acne scars.
There are different levels of acne scarring. People have different cases for example ranging from heavy scarring to light scarring. Because of this range, there are different types of treatment for each level.
When you have pimples, you should do everything possible to prevent acne scars from occurring. Try to avoid popping the pimples. This can lead to infection and hence the scarring. This also spreads the bacteria which creates more pimples.
Wash your face often and use antibacterial soap. You need to wash often to get rid of the oil buildup on your face. Using antibacterial soap kills the bacterium that causes the acne.
If you have very mild cases of acne scars, you might want to try using an over the counter cream. These acne scar creams work by smoothing out the scarring overtime.
If your acne scarring is a little bit more than mild, you may want to try a chemical peel to get rid of the acne scars. Chemical peels work by using acid to peel off the top layer of your skin. You may experience irritation afterwards.
Try using a dermabrasion to get rid of your acne scar. This is also done in a dermatologists office. The dermatologist will use a facial sander to remove the top layer of skin.
Finally, you may want to use laser resurfacing. This is the most expensive technique for getting rid of acne scars. It is similar to dermabrasion except that it uses a laser instead of a sander to clear up the skin.
Other than the OTC medications, all of these procedures to get rid of acne scars should be done at a dermatologists office. They usually require some recovery time for the skin to grow back after treatment.
