Insomnia, as anyone who has ever dealt with it knows, is an incredibly difficult thing to live with. Another popular therapy is called relaxation therapy. It’s about learning how to calm the body and relax. You might do yoga or meditate before bed, for example, or change the environment of the room by playing soothing music of making the lighting softer and less harsh. Sometimes people who are following relaxation therapy techniques will learn to use the bed only for sleeping and sexual activity and never for watching television, eating or reading.
Never oversleep. One of the most important things you can do to help with sleep rhythms is to establish a regular pattern of sleep and wake and never oversleep (even on the weekends).
There are medications you can take for insomnia, and some people find that they can use these with success, especially when combined with the non-medical treatments.
